Know when it's time to replace your springs
When springs start making noises, begin to look worn and you've had them for years, it's probably a good idea to change them. If springs unexpectedly snap, this can be extremely dangerous. If your door starts to lower much faster than it did before, this is another good sign than the springs are losing their tension and need to be replaced.
Pay attention to the rollers
Pay attention to the wheels for denting and cracks. Look carefully at the stems and watch out for signs of bending and twisting. You should also look closely for rust and for signs of natural wear and tear. Damaged rollers must be replaced in a timely fashion and also cleaned from time to time. Don't forget, if you're using metal rollers, these will also require lubrication.
Test the door reversal mechanism at least twice a year
For this, you need to open the door fully and place an object like a brush on the ground under it. The object could be a roll of kitchen paper or a piece of wood. Next, push the button to close the door - if the door fails to reverse, this indicates a likely problem with the sensors which you get checked out as soon as possible.
